I give one to one sessions in Transformational Breath® to aid better breathing for health and vitality in my therapy room, in the rural setting of St Mary, Jersey.
Transformational Breath® is a gentle, simple technique that helps people to open up the full potential of their breathing system for better physical and emotional well-being. It teaches a pattern of conscious breathing that is natural, safe and healthy and which can have many benefits, including increased energy, better immune response and increased ability to deal with stress in a healthy way.

Research on the effects of Transformational Breath® is currently going on. A significant proportion of people have dysfunctional breathing which, in various studies, has been found to affect emotional well-being, ability to control asthma, heart rate variability, migraine, gastroesophageal reflux and increased stress. (Source: TBF UK). Taking control of your breathing enables you to revitalise yourself, to let go of emotional baggage that may have been stored in your body for years. It may even lead you to a deeper spiritual awareness.
We start with a chat about you, your history, what you hope to achieve in our sessions. We set a goal for you. I will explain Transformational Breath® in more detail. Then you will lie comfortably on a mattress supported by pillows, fully clothed in easy-fitting clothes, with relaxing music playing. First, I will observe your natural breathing, then we will work on it together to guide you to breathe more effectively and efficiently. Sometimes, tensions that have been lurking under the surface are exposed: we will deal with these using movement or toning to release them. I also use a system of body mapping to identify where stress has been stored and I apply pressure, similar to acupressure, to release it. Affirmations are another useful tool to address stress.
You will continue with the connected breathing for about 45 minutes, during which your internal organs will receive a ‘massage’ which aids the process of circulation in the whole of the body, leaving you tingling with energy.
You will ‘wind down’ with 10 to 15 minutes of relaxation before we talk over what has happened for you and how you might work with Transformational Breath® at home, perhaps with the ‘hundred breaths’ exercise, which takes about five minutes.
